A Christmas tradition.
For 5000 years, incense has been one of the most precious gifts of kings and emperors. It has been closely connected with religion-as in the story of the three wise men bringing gold, frankinsence, and myrrh to the baby Jesus. Christian and German customs, along with superstition, made people believe that evil spirits could be driven away with noise and light. Once the devils and evil spirits had left the house, fine incense was burned to bless the hearth and home.Over the years, all kinds of Rauchermen (smoking men) were designed. They represent folk figures, professionals, heroes, and forest workers. To see a selection of our smokers, click on the following photos. We carry hundreds in stock, and can order any still being made. If you don't see what you're looking for, contact us @ 800-244-2197. To burn your smoking man: Pull out the leg section; place incense cone in metal holder; light incense; put top section back on the bottom section.
